M Ed on Educational Leadership and School Improvement (ELSI): ELSI4: Leading innovation, entrepreneurship, and change for learning

Course Description

 

This course is developed around the evolving discourses on educational leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, change, and sustained learning and their relevance for the UAE education scenario. The aim of this course is to enable in-service middle and aspirant and in-service senior leaders (The students) to develop advanced research-informed knowledge and skills to nurture characteristics of innovation and entrepreneurial mindset for leading teaching and learning. Students will learn to delineate the conditions for the teachers and learners alike to be resourceful, creative, flexible and adaptable risk-takers and knowledge-base disruptors who have passion for learning and exploration and value mistakes as learning opportunities. Students will develop in-depth contextualized knowledge and skills for the effective leadership of school cultures for learning. They will identify and build the strengths and developmental leadership areas needed for establishing and sustaining schools and networks of schools as inclusive and accountable learning organizations. In addition, students will take responsibility for leading the strategic performance and development of professional teams. They will develop core leadership knowledge and skills for leading teacher leadership in critical and strategic areas of school improvement such as integrating entrepreneurship and innovation in curriculum and  establishing and embedding flexible student-centered pedagogic skills and practices, curriculum progression and assessment to support diversity and the individual learning processes. Moreover, students will develop the skills to function effectively and interdependently with colleagues and teams and take responsibility for managing professional practices, work processes and learning contexts that are complex, unpredictable, and require new strategic approaches and/or interventions.
