M Ed on Educational Leadership and School Improvement (ELSI): ELSI2: Educational Leadership and School Improvement Inquiry

Course Description

This course is designed to promote the effective planning of innovative, learning-focused, and research-informed practices in educational leadership and school improvement within diverse school contexts in the UAE. It introduces students to collaborative inquiry process as a key approach to developing essential knowledge and skills for leading school selfevaluation and strengthening the connections between values and practice. It provides opportunities for students to build a flexible repertoire of inquiry methods and approaches, enabling them to field-test and evaluate the effectiveness of various educational leadership and school improvement practices. Throughout the course, students will be guided through the four stages of collaborative inquiry process: framing the problem, collecting evidence, analysing evidence, and recording, celebrating and sharing while applying these stages in field-based, contextually relevant settings. Through this inquiry-driven process, students will critically reflect on multiple aspects of educational leadership and school improvement, and develop inclusive, culturally responsive, and sustainability-aware innovations in policy and practice. Students will critically examine the role of professional learning communities and networks in fostering a culture of collaborative inquiry for continuous school improvement.
