This course is designed to promote the effective planning of innovative, learning-focused and research-informed educational leadership and school improvement practices in different school contexts in the UAE. The course introduces students to Collaborative Inquiry process to develop essential skills and knowledge for leading school leadership self-evaluation and consistently strengthening the value-practice links in their schools. It will provide opportunities for students to develop a flexible repertoire of inquiry methods and approaches that will enable them to field test and evaluate the effectiveness of different educational leadership and school improvement practices. This course will take the students through the four stages of collaborative inquiry process: framing the problem, collecting evidence, analysing evidence, and recording, celebrating and sharing. Through this field-based inquiry process, students will have extensive support to critically reflect on different facets of educational leadership and school improvement as they develop innovations in policy and practice related to a range of school improvement challenges and priorities. Students will critically reflect on the importance of professional learning communities and networks for sustaining a culture of collaborative inquiry for overall school improvement.
